Before the online garden consultation, we'll need a few photos of your garden and answers to some simple questions. Just follow the instructions in your DIY Designs Project Guide, which is delivered straight to your inbox after your purchase. This preparation allows your designer to consider ideas and options for your project in advance, maximizing the benefits of your one-on-one designer time.
Don't worry if your garden isn't in great shape—we're confident we've seen worse, and that after the consultation, you'll feel more excited and informed about your property's potential. Our enthusiastic lead designer will provide you with honest feedback on what's working, what's not, and why! As well as discussing long-term dream garden solutions that align with your budget, she'll also offer tips for quick fixes and affordable solutions to help you transform your property from drab to fab.
There's no pressure to opt for additional design services, but if you have a lot of new planting suggestions required (only so much can be covered in an hour), or you're interested in having a more detailed design drawn up, we can also discuss the best remote garden design options for you, and we'll include a link to the suggested follow-up service in your post-consultation notes.

How soon can I do my online garden consultation?
As with all our online garden design services, you can progress the service at your own rate. We aim to carry out the consultation within one week of receiving your garden info, which you will send us following the easy instructions in the DIY Designs Project Guide.
How long will it be between having the online consultation and getting my follow-up notes?
We know that after the consultation you'll be keen to start actioning the great ideas our designer will give you, so we aim to get the notes out to you within 24 hours of the screenshare.
If I live in Auckland, can I still use the online garden design consultation service?
You sure can! Lots of our Auckland clients actually prefer to use the online platform, because it suits their busy work schedules and hectic family lifestyles.
Can I use the Ask-An-Expert service to get full site planting suggestions?
Our DIY Designers are passionate and skilled when it comes to plants and planting layouts. They will gladly provide some planting suggestions, however, the creation of an extensive or site-wide planting scheme is a time-consuming and considered process that cannot be covered under the online garden design consultation service.
If you require a lot of planting suggestions, we recommend you purchase one of our concept plan options, which include a consultation and full planting specifications.
